Removing press-ons without damaging your natural nail

Warm water, cuticle oil, patience. Never pry a set off dry.

Removing press-ons without damaging your natural nail

The short answer

To remove press-on nails safely, soak hands in warm soapy water for ten minutes, add cuticle oil under each tip, then lift gently from the sidewall - never pry a set off dry.

  • · Soak, don't pull
  • · Lift from the side
  • · Recover afterwards

Soak, don't pull

Soak your hands in warm soapy water for ten minutes. Add a few drops of oil around each cuticle so it seeps under the tip and softens the bond.

Lift from the side

Work an orange stick gently under one sidewall and wiggle - never lever from the centre. If a tip resists, soak again rather than forcing it.

Recover afterwards

Buff away glue residue with a fine buffer, then oil the nail and cuticle for a few nights before your next set. Reusable tips can be cleaned the same way and stored for another wear.
