The NEEVANAILS FAQ
Press-on nails, answered.
Everything you've asked us about press-on nails — how long they last, how to apply them, how to reuse a set and keep your natural nails happy underneath. Pretty nails, pretty moments, zero guesswork.
How long do press-on nails last?
With nail glue and proper prep, a NEEVANAILS set lasts up to two weeks — most people get 10–14 days of comfortable wear before a tip needs a touch-up. With adhesive tabs instead of glue, expect 3–7 days, which is perfect for a weekend or an event. The two things that decide longevity are prep (clean, buffed, oil-free nails) and holding each tip down for a full 30 seconds while the glue sets.
How do I apply press-on nails?
Five steps: wash and dry your hands, gently push back cuticles and wipe each nail with alcohol to remove oils, choose the tip that fits each nail sidewall to sidewall, apply glue from cuticle to tip, then press and hold for 30 seconds per nail. Avoid water for the first hour so the bond fully sets. The full walkthrough is in our Nail Academy and our how-to-apply guide.
Can I reuse press-on nails?
Yes — every NEEVANAILS set is designed to be reused. With gentle removal and simple aftercare, most sets last five to ten wears. After each wear, remove leftover adhesive with a wooden stick, buff the underside lightly, and store the set in its original box away from heat and sunlight. When a set has truly lived its life, return it through NEEVANAILS Circle so the materials get a second life.
How do I remove press-on nails without damaging my natural nails?
Soak your hands in warm, soapy water for about ten minutes, slide a little cuticle oil under the lifted edge, and ease each tip off gently from the sidewall with a wooden stick. Never pry or pull a dry tip off — force, not the press-on itself, is what damages natural nails.
Will press-on nails damage my natural nails?
Not when they're applied and removed correctly. Press-ons are gentler than gel or acrylic because there's no drilling, filing of the nail plate or UV curing. Give your nails a day or two to breathe between wears, keep the nail plate oil-free before gluing, and always soak rather than pull during removal.
How do I know which size to order?
Measure the widest point of each nail bed in millimetres and match it to our sizes: XS (6–8 mm), S (8–10 mm), M (10–12 mm, the most common), L (12–14 mm) and XL (14–16 mm). If you're between two sizes, choose the larger one and file the sidewalls for a perfect fit. Your first order includes a free size exchange, so you can find your fit without risk.
Can I shower, swim or work out with press-on nails on?
Yes — once the glue has fully set (give it the first hour), normal showering, handwashing and workouts are fine. Prolonged exposure to very hot water, chlorine or cleaning chemicals can soften the bond over time, so wear gloves for dishwashing and long cleaning sessions and your wear will easily reach the two-week mark.
What shapes and lengths can I choose from?
NEEVANAILS sets come in seven shapes — Round, Oval, Almond, Square, Coffin, Stiletto and Squoval — across five lengths from XS to XL. Short shapes like round and squoval are best for work and typing; almond, oval and coffin are the most flattering for events and photos. Not sure? Are NEEVANAILS press-ons vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Every set is vegan, cruelty-free and hand-finished, and the packaging is designed to be low-waste — part of why we built NEEVANAILS Circle, our take-back and rewards program for retired sets.
What are press-on nails, exactly?
Press-on nails are pre-shaped, pre-finished false nails that sit on top of your natural nail. Instead of building a manicure layer by layer in a salon, you match each tip to the right finger and bond it with nail glue or an adhesive tab — a full set takes about fifteen minutes at home. NEEVANAILS press-ons are hand-finished and curved to follow a real nail bed, so they're strong enough to remove gently and wear again.
Are press-on nails better than acrylic or gel?
For most people, yes on convenience and nail health: press-ons take fifteen minutes at home instead of a one-to-two hour appointment, need no drilling or UV curing, and come off in warm soapy water rather than an acetone soak. Acrylic still wins on a single continuous month-long wear and on sculpted extreme lengths. Press-ons win on cost per wear, variety and being able to change your look whenever you like.
Do press-on nails come with glue and everything I need?
Yes. Every NEEVANAILS set ships with tips across sizes XS to XL, nail glue, a file, a buffer and a wooden stick. The only extra worth having is an alcohol wipe to clean the nail plate before you glue — that one step makes the difference between a nine-day wear and a fourteen-day one.
How many times can I wear one set?
Most sets give five to ten wears when you remove them by soaking rather than pulling, clean the underside after each wear and store them in their tray. That's what makes the cost per manicure fall every time you rewear a set — and when a set has genuinely finished, you can return it through NEEVANAILS Circle and earn rewards for it.
Are press-on nails bad for your natural nails?
Not in themselves. Damage comes from force: prying a tip off dry, or filing the nail plate aggressively before application. Buff away shine only, remove by soaking in warm soapy water for ten minutes, and give your nails a day or two with cuticle oil between sets — done that way, press-ons are gentler than gel or acrylic.
