How to apply press-on nails so they last two weeks
Prep, sizing and pressure - the three things that decide whether a set lifts on day two or lasts a fortnight.

The short answer
Press-on nails last up to two weeks when you buff and dehydrate the nail plate, size each tip before gluing, and hold every tip down for 30 seconds under firm pressure.
- · Start with a dry, oil-free nail
- · Size before you glue
- · Press, hold, and wait
Start with a dry, oil-free nail
Wash your hands, push back the cuticle gently and buff the shine off the nail plate. Wipe each nail with alcohol and let it dry fully - glue bonds to keratin, not to oil or lotion.
Skip hand cream until after the set is on. A single pump of moisturiser before application is the most common reason a press-on lifts at the free edge.
Size before you glue
Lay every tip out on the matching finger first. The right size covers the nail bed edge to edge without pressing into the sidewalls. When you are between sizes, go up - a slightly wide tip can be filed, a narrow one will pop.
Press, hold, and wait
Apply a thin layer of glue to your natural nail and a dot inside the tip. Place the tip at the cuticle line first, then roll it down to the tip and hold for 30 seconds with firm, even pressure.
Give the full set ten minutes before water, and avoid long hot showers on day one.
