How long do press-on nails last? A realistic answer

The honest numbers
With nail glue and proper prep, a well-sized press-on set lasts up to two weeks - most people get ten to fourteen days before a single tip needs re-gluing. With adhesive tabs, expect three to seven days, which is ideal for an event, a holiday or a look you want to change quickly.
Nothing about the design changes this. A chrome set and a sheer nude set wear identically; what differs is prep, fit and pressure.
What shortens wear time
Oil on the nail plate is the biggest culprit - hand cream, cuticle oil or a rushed wash before gluing. A tip that is slightly too narrow is the second: the outer edges never bond, so the nail catches on fabric and lifts.
Long hot showers, chlorine, dishwashing without gloves and acetone-based removers all soften adhesive over time. None of them are catastrophic, they simply shave days off the wear.
What extends it
Buff the shine off, wipe with alcohol, size every tip before opening the glue, and hold each nail for a full 30 seconds. Keep the set dry for the first hour. Wear gloves for cleaning, and treat the tips as nails rather than tools.
